Not long ago, I found myself emotionally wrung out.

I had climbed the ladder in a corporate job that looked great on paper and even better in the bank account. From the outside, it appeared I was successful.

Behind closed doors, I was slowly falling apart.

I was working 60-hour weeks and getting paid for 40. New responsibilities kept being added to my desk because I was capable, dependable, and apparently still standing.

Until I wasn't.

My hair was falling out. My body was waving red flags I kept ignoring. The anxiety, chest pains, exhaustion, mood swings and snotty nosed tissues on the floor from crying my eyes out had somehow become things I thought were just part of having a demanding corporate career.

I didn't know how deeply my job was affecting me because, when you're living inside that kind of stress every day, sometimes you stop questioning whether it's normal.

You just keep going. Surviving.

And I did. Until I spiraled into a deep, dark depression that took me almost a year to climb out of.

But life had more in store.

Around the same time, my dad suffered multiple retinal detachments in both eyes and became blind. My mom was showing the early signs of dementia.

Suddenly, I wasn't just thinking about finding another job.

I needed to find ways to make extra money that allowed my life to need me too.

I wasn't dreaming of yachts or six-figure months. I was praying for enough income to cover grocery essentials and pay my bills without missing the important moments in my family's life, or forgetting one of the seemingly endless doctor appointments Mom and Dad had.

That's what sent me down the rabbit hole.

I Googled, binged and scrolled TikTok videos of "how to make extra money from home" at 1 a.m. in my fuzzy socks, sipping tea and wiping tears.

And I tried things.

Some worked for a season. Some made money but demanded more of me than I wanted to keep giving. Some taught me that a good income opportunity on paper can still be completely wrong for the life you're trying to survive.

What I eventually discovered was this:

There are ways to make money from home that can respect the season of life you're in.

Options that allow us to earn extra income with dignity, creativity, and purpose.

We don't have to be techy, trendy, 25 years old, or perfectly put together to get started.

Neither is wrong.

For me, marketing online and making money with short videos and Pinterest changed how I looked at making money from home.

Instead of spending my day cold messaging strangers or trying to convince friends and family to buy something, I could create content around questions women were already searching for. A short video, blog post, Pinterest pin, or helpful email could continue working long after I closed my laptop.
