My dad was a logger and he worked harder than anyone I’ve ever known — long days, calloused hands, sweat on his brow. That’s how I first learned what it meant to make money: you earned it through struggle, sawdust, through blisters and grit, through being “deserving.”

I thought money had to be hard. That making it required sacrifice, stress, and maybe even a little suffering.
