How to Make Extra Money From Home

Dear Overthinker,

When you are thinking about all the "how to make extra money from home" in your business .. Have you ever muttered and thought things like, "Once I finish perfecting this, then I'll launch it tomorrow...", "I just need to tweak this one more time before I post it", "One more edit" .. ?

If so, you might be trapped in the Perfectionism-Procrastination Loop - and it’s not just mentally draining, physically exhausting (hello shoulder tension).

.. it’s expensive. It has a cost.

Let’s be real: perfectionism feels noble. Society even praises it. .. Remember getting gold stickers on your home work? A big A+ written in red on your test paper?? But under the surface, perfection? .. it’s a sneaky delay tactic dressed up in productivity’s clothing.

The weird thing is often procrastination does have a "feel good" feeling as we re edit, tweak, re write .. because we feel like we are DOING something .. truth is;

We're doing nothing but spinning our wheels and wasting time.

.. Life Fact: You’re not lazy. You’re not lacking talent. You’ve just learned to equate success with flawlessness - and anything short of that feels like failure.

But here’s the hard truth: Perfectionism is keeping way too many women broke. It's hurting our business and stalling our success.

Procrastination and perfectionism are the terrible twosome in business!

Double guessing .. Maybe I need to learn more .. Take another course .. Read another book .. Listen to another Podcast .. Watch another Zoom .. Invest in more coaching ..

Because perfectionists fear being unable to complete a task perfectly, we put it off. The fear of being judged - or worse, ignored - causes so much pressure that action gets replaced by more planning, more tweaking, and more stuck-ness.

And what follows that? Shame. Self-doubt. Another week of feeling like you're falling behind.

Let’s talk about the emotional toll:

  • You spend 3 hours editing a 60-second video and still don’t post it.
  • You avoid launching your offer because your Canva template isn’t quite “on brand.” .. Let's try "this" font ..
  • You’ve rewritten your blog headline 17 times and haven’t published a thing.

Meanwhile, the woman who just shows up - messy hair, their dog licking up the cheerio's on the carpet, imperfect lighting, unfolded laundry on the couch, unpolished words—is making conversations, connections AND sales.

Not because she’s better. But because she’s in motion.

Remember that law of physics? An object in motion stays in motion. Momentum starts with messy action - not mastery.

This Perfectionism-Procrastination Loop is especially common for women: We’re raised to "get it right" before taking up space. We fear being judged, labeled, or misunderstood. We overthink. We stall. And our dreams get stuck in our head and behind our screens.

But here’s the thing: Done is always better than perfect. Messy posts can still make money. B- work can still bring in A+ income.

Let’s break this loop.

The first step? Redefine progress.

Set personal goals you can actually celebrate. Post the imperfect reel. Write the first email, even if you’re not sure it’s your best. Publish that blog or web page even if the header font isn't your favorite yet.

Every win counts. And when you track those wins, your confidence starts to rise.

Try this:

  • Keep a journal of your mini milestones
  • Celebrate one thing you did this week that moved the needle
  • Learn something new and implement it without needing to be great at it
  • Talk to yourself like you would your best friend

Instead of asking: “Is this perfect?” Ask: “Did I show up today?”

Confidence isn’t the starting point. It’s the result of showing up consistently.

Here’s a little story: When I started creating video and digital content, I didn’t have a fancy camera, a marketing degree, or a brand color palette. I had a message, a phone, and the willingness to start. .. Yes this is my phone perched 👇🏼on a stick pin in a tree and scribbled notes to help keep me on track!
