Truth time, Sunshine 🌞.. some days just hijack your vibe. One unexpected thing. One conversation. One comment. One person who flies off the handle. Boom. You're spiraling. Suddenly, everything feels off. You were in your groove, your fave playlist humming, your pumpkin spice candle lit, to-do list halfway slayed when it comes to making extra money from home.. and then bam, emotional derailment.

You’re not alone.

Whether it’s a rude message, a snarky comment from a friend, a passive-aggressive email, or a well-intended convo gone sideways.. sometimes life (and our online money maker business) hits us with turbulence of a circus ride gone wrong

And while our recovery time might be quicker than it used to be for us women over 40 (and youthful grandma's like me), it still sucks. That moment when the wind gets knocked out of our sails and we’re left wondering, “What now?”

Here’s what I’ve learned (from experience): getting knocked off track is inevitable. But staying off track? That part’s optional.

Below are some truth-filled, heart-centered ways women just like you and I can reset, regroup & reclaim our peace.. and get back into alignment with our business and life with passion and purpose!


1. Remember: We Can’t Save Everyone (Even If We Want To)

We’ve got big hearts, right? Many of us are natural nurturers, caregivers, women with open hands and listening ears. Filled with empathy and understanding. But when we try to carry everyone else’s baggage, we’ll end up exhausted with no room left for our own dreams.

It’s a hard truth: not everyone wants to be helped.

Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is point someone toward resources, not try to be their rescuer. Releasing that pressure is powerful. We don’t have to be all things to all people.. we just need to stay rooted in what we can do. And that’s still a whole lot.

👉 Instead of spiraling over what went wrong, ask: What can I do next? Where can I show up strong today?


2. Re-Center: Breathe. Pause. Reset.

This step may sound simple, but it's often skipped. The moment you feel your heart racing or your stomach sinking, breathe. Literally stop and inhale deeply. Get quiet with yourself. Don't speak, but inwardly, breathe and:

Ask: “What’s mine to carry here?” and “What can I gently let go of?”

Do a mini reset ritual:

  • Change your location (even if that means a shower or step outside into the fall breeze 🍁)
  • Put on a feel-good playlist
  • Wrap up in a warm blanket with herbal tea
  • Journal 3 things that ground you
  • Whisper: “I’m still worthy even in the wobble.”

Because we are. Together.


3. Move That Energy!

We’re not meant to sit in stuck-ness. Shake it out.

When the emotions rise, we’ve got to move them through us. Try:

  • A brisk walk with crunchy leaves underfoot 🍂
  • Dancing it out in the kitchen
  • Playing fetch with your pup
  • Doing a few Amy Cuddy power poses from her Ted Talk (they work, trust me!)

This isn’t just cute advice. Movement metabolizes stress. It clears the static so clarity (and some calm) can come back in.


4. Audit Your Self-Talk & Your Scorecard

Sometimes it’s not what happened that takes us down.. it’s the story we tell ourselves about what happened.

After an off-track moment, we tend to judge ourselves harshly:

  • “Ugh, I should’ve handled that better.”
  • “Why can’t I just stay calm?”
  • “I’m so behind now, what’s the point?”

STOP.

Would you say that to your best friend? Nope. Then don’t say it to yourself.

And while we’re here.. can we check the scoreboard we’re using?

Let’s not measure our worth by how many items we checked off a to-do list today. Measure by how we showed up. How we got back up. How we didn’t give up.

5. Simplify to Soothe

Feeling overwhelmed? Good news: you don’t have to do everything. Not today. Not all at once.

Trim that to-do list. Push a few tasks to tomorrow. Prioritize joy over pressure.

What’s one thing that would actually feel energizing to do today? Do that. Let that be enough.

Give yourself permission to edit the day.

This is your life.. not a productivity contest. Fall reminds us to release what no longer serves. So if it’s not urgent, aligned, or kind.. let it go 🍂


6. Reach In Before You Reach Out

Yes, venting to your bestie can help. But sometimes, before we grab the phone, we need to check in with ourselves.

Ask:

  • What am I really feeling?
  • What part of me needs comfort?
  • What would feel nourishing right now?

Then? Yes, absolutely.. text your sister-friend, hop in the group chat, or voice message someone in your support circle.

Being witnessed is healing. You don’t have to do this alone.


7. Check the Boundaries

Repeat after me: “What I allow, continues.”

If the same person (or situation) keeps derailing your peace, it’s time to check the boundary fence. Is it strong? Or does it need mending?

Boundaries are not walls.. they’re invitations for healthy connection. They protect our energy, our time, our peace.

Don’t be afraid to lovingly speak up. You’re not being mean. You’re being clear.


8. Ask: What’s the Lesson? What’s the Test?

Sometimes, that off-track moment? It’s not sabotage. It’s sacred.

The universe might be asking:

  • Do you still want this dream?
  • Can you hold your vision through discomfort?
  • Are you ready to uplevel your response?

This isn’t punishment. It’s preparation.

We’re being refined in the fire.. not destroyed by it.

So get back on your unicorn, Sunshine 🦄

Fall down. Get back up. Rinse. Repeat. That’s how we rise.
